Integration of biometric technology makes WL Trusted Authentication more secure
Worldline has expanded its authentication solution, WL Trusted Authentication, by adding fingerprint and faceID security options. A demo of the updated product with biometric technology, which is also FIDO (Fast ID Online) compliant, is being presented at MWC Barcelona.
Strong authentication solutions
Users today increasingly utilize services such as online banking. This means they have to identify themselves online more and more. Worldline built WL Trusted Authentication years ago to answer the increasing needs of banks, governments and other organizations for strong authentication solutions to ensure secure remote access for mobile users. Now, WL Trusted Authentication processes ten million transactions per month.
The solution, provided with an SDK or white-label app, already offered two-step verification via device enrolment (possession factor) and PIN code (knowledge factor). That means it already met the requirements of the PSD2 legislation to improve online payment security. Now, users can access their favorite online services more securely with the introduction of fingerprint and faceID (inherence factor). Biometrics also improves the ease of use and increases the adoption rate.
WL Trusted Authentication can be linked to Mobile SOC, the Worldline solution that protects users against frauds and attacks, such as sensitive data hacking and phishing. This mobile solution was honored with the Banque & Innovation award in 2018, which recognizes technological innovations that benefit customers.
“With the introduction of biometric features, our authentication solution is future-proof, but this does not mean that we are finished. Our teams are constantly working on solutions that improve the user experience and simultaneously increase the security of our customers. An example is the new browser-based authentication solution, which will allow financial institutions to comply with the Regulatory Technical Standards of PSD2”, says Claire Pipon, Global Product Manager of Trusted Authentication at equensWorldline.
